Drawing on human-computer interaction design and creative practice, my work approaches technology as material, tool, and object of design, extending design as a reflective mode of inquiry across these areas:

Collective Futuring
Augmented Creativity
Sensory Engagement

Across my research, making plays a central role in eliciting values, surfacing tensions, and probing alternative possibilities.

Collective Futuring

Who gets to design the future, and how?  I explore storytelling as both method and outcome of interdisciplinary knowledge sharing and participatory design futuring, weaving diverse perspectives across past and present into shared visions.

Augmenting Creativity

How do we design with and for creativity? My work investigates creativity as a more-than-human process engaging machines, nature, people, and things as collaborators from design tooling and pedagogy to everyday making and caring practice.

Sensory Engagement

How does sensing shape knowing and designing? I reflect on and probe how material and sensory experience ground the way we relate to others, places, non-human entities, and intangible ideas as fundamental modes of being, knowing, and making.

This collaborative studio extends the human-centered design approach to automate and AI-enabled system design scenarios. Beyond optimizing workflows to increase efficiency, we envision new modes of work that is augmented by human-machine collaboration, speculating about their un/intended consequences.
